God hears and answers

Scripture repeatedly teaches that God hears the prayers of His people and answers them. Here are some of the clearest passages, using the NASB 2020:

Psalm 34:17
“The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears
And rescues them from all their troubles.”

Psalm 18:6
“In my distress I called upon the LORD,
And cried to my God for help;
He heard my voice from His temple,
And my cry for help before Him came into His ears.”

Psalm 116:1–2
“I love the LORD, because He hears
My voice and my pleas.
Because He has inclined His ear to me,
Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live.”

Jeremiah 33:3
“Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”

Isaiah 65:24
“It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.”

Jesus specifically promised an answer to prayer
John 14:13–14
“Whatever you ask in My name, this I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.”

John 15:7
“If you remain in Me, and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

Matthew 7:7–8
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.”
God hears even when we are in trouble

Psalm 50:15
“And call upon Me on the day of trouble;
I will rescue you, and you will honor Me.”

Psalm 91:15
“He will call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honor him.”

1 John 5:14–15
“This is the confidence which we have before Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.”

He is at His ready to hear us at anytime, anywhere, and in anything when we call, cry out, or ask of Him. David, over and over and in every situation calls on the name of the Lord. In good or bad times he is knocking, seeking, and asking, knowing that God hears him. In Him he takes refuge and knows where His help comes from; His God in whom He trusts. He waits on Him to speak to His spirit and renew His mind.

1 Peter 3:12
“FOR THE EYES OF THE LORD ARE TOWARD THE RIGHTEOUS, AND HIS EARS ATTEND TO THEIR PRAYER, BUT THE FACE OF THE LORD IS AGAINST THOSE WHO DO EVIL.”

Our God is attentive and knows our voice.
